Some of you know that I am a country music fan. One of my favorite songs is by Jamie Johnson. It's called "You should have seen it in Color". I would encourage you to go to youtube and check it out. The song is about a young boy asking his grandfather to explain the meaning of some old black and white photos. The song chokes me up almost- every time I hear it. Part of the lyrics are:
I said grandpa whats this picture here
Its all black and white
It ain't real clear is that you there?
Oh and this one here was taken over seas
In the middle of hell in 1943
In the winter time, you can almost see my breath
That was my tail gunner o/e Johnny Magee
He was a high school teacher from New Orleans
And he had my back right through the day we left.
If it looks like we were scared to death
Like a couple of kids just trying to save each other
You should've seen it in color.
The line that is the most meaningful to me is when the grandfather talks about his teacher friend from New Orleans who had his back. No matter what. We all need someone who always has our back. My wife Chris, my daughters Jessica and Kelly, my son-in-law Scott, my mother, all of my family, they all know that I have their back ... no matter what.
And that's what we're trying to do here at Williams Company with our clients. We have their backs ... no matter what. If a hurricane takes out your retail store, we're immediately there for you. If you need a building built in the middle of an active campus without disruption, we're there for you. If you need us to work in the middle of the night or over the holidays, we've got your back. If you need us to deliver a project on a crazy fast schedule, we're there for you. If you need us to help with your design or engineering, we've got your back ... no matter what.
Loyalty in this day and age is rare. When a person or a client knows that you have their back ... no matter what, they will stay loyal to you forever.
